Fairies are most often thought of as diminutive sprites commonly in the shape of delicate, beautiful, ageless winged women dressed in diaphanous white clothing, inhabiting fairyland, but making usually well-intentioned intervention in personal human affairs. They are usually tiny, mischievous, and protective creatures generally associated with helping humans. Fairy lore or tales abound in all cultures around the world.
